Graduate students

The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), second largest medical school in the U.S., offers research-based biomedical science Ph.D. programs through an “open enrollment” system named The Indiana University School of Medicine BioMedical Gateway (IBMG) Program. The IBMG Program provides a shared first year experience for all of School of Medicine biomedical science pre-doctoral (Ph.D. program) students.  For more information on how to apply see here.   Applicants interested in working in the Allen laboratory for their PhD are encouraged to contact the lab prior to applying to the IBMG program.

The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology also offers a variety of MS programs.  These include both a traditional track (some research but mostly classes) and a new research track (12 hours of research credit plus thesis).  For more information on the MS programs see here.  Applicants interested in working in the Allen laboratory for an MS are encouraged to contact the lab prior to applying to the program.

Opportunities are also available for Medical Students to earn MD/PhD through a combined degree program.  For more information see here.  Applicants interested in working in the Allen laboratory for their MD/PhD are encouraged to contact the lab prior to applying to the program.

Undergraduate students

There are plenty of opporunities to join the lab as an undergraduate student looking for research experience.  Undergraduates at IUPUI are encouraged to work through the Life-Health Science Internship Program (more info here) which provides year-long paid internships.  Positions in the lab are available on a rotation basis (please contact the lab if you are interested)

Post-doctoral Fellows

Although not specifically recruiting post-doctoral fellows at this time, those interested in joining the laboratory are encouraged to contact the PI. Please note, these contacts should be specific and well-thought inquiries (see good advice here).
